5 REASONS TO BRING YOUR OWN VAN

Make Your Camper Van Dreams a Reality

At Peace Vans, we’re in the memory-making business. We want to ensure you’re able to experience the joy, wonder, and discovery of a camper van road trip, regardless of where you purchased your Metris van. We’re offering an opportunity to BYOV (Bring Your Own Van) to our shop for our talented technicians to convert.

Why opt for BYOV instead of purchasing a Metris through our partnership with Mercedes-Benz of Seattle? We highlight 5 key benefits below.

  1. Save Money by Purchasing a Used Van

Used is the new … new? There’s a reason we choose to work on the Metris. These vans hold up incredibly well. And since a 2022 Mercedes Metris may run you upwards of $40,000, finding a used van on the open market is a great way to save a few bucks. If you’re looking at used Metris vans, think about what kind of conversion best fits your needs. For just a Pop Top conversion and some limited finish work, a Passenger Model or a Cargo Model both fit the bill. If you want seats or cabinetry installed, or a complete conversion—either our Full Camper or our Weekender—you’ll need a Passenger Model. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions, we’re happy to help guide you on your search for a used Metris.

  2. Get Your Van Converted Sooner with a Shorter Project Timeline

International supply chain issues and increasing demand for these vans continue to affect the number of 2022 chassis we’re able to receive from Mercedes-Benz. The average lead time on a new model conversion is 9-12 months. The best way to avoid the wait? Bringing in your own van. Without the need for 2022 chassis to make their way to our shop—we can essentially dive right into working on your conversion.

  3. Have Flexibility to DIY the Interior Build Out by Opting for Just a Pop Top

While we have you covered with our Full Camper or Weekender conversion options, we understand sometimes you want something completely different on the interior. Have a particular vision for the inside conversion? Bring your van in, we’ll install the Pop Top, and you’ll get to DIY the rest of the camper van conversion however your heart desires.

  4. Manage Costs by Breaking the Conversion Work into Steps

Start out with our Pop Top conversion, and return for our Full Camper or Weekender conversions later down the line. Breaking the work up in chunks is a great way to spend-as-you-go. The opportunity to save for the next stage can make a camper van conversion much more manageable. Doing the conversion in phases is not only an ideal way to spread out costs—it’s also perfect if you want to “grow into your van.” You can start more minimally and build out the van as your needs develop over time.

  5. Score Our Exclusive Upgrades and Accessories

Bring your previously converted van in and add upgrades and accessories that only Peace Vans offers. Our team developed these add-ons tapping into decades of expertise in the industry. We know these vans inside and out, and we’re always listening to customer feedback and seeking ways to improve. We’ve been able to create unique solutions to enhance every Metris camper van. Want our Rear Pull-Out Kitchen or our Custom-Made Toilet Box? Both add-ons were developed in partnership with a local craftsman who shares our same values for quality materials and expert service. If you’ve already converted your van and are looking to level up your camping experience, these add-ons are the way to go.

Why Bring Your Own Van?

“I have always wanted a camper van and was originally looking at a VW,” shares Audrey Van Alyea, one of our very first customers to do a camper van conversion with us. “After more research I decided on getting something more modern. I have two small children and wanted us to grow into it and have the extra benefit of all the updated safety features.”

Audrey purchased her van and brought it into our shop for a Pop Top conversion.

“I love owning a Metris camper van,” shares Audrey. “It’s so easy to drive, very functional for days at the beach and long camping trips. It’s the perfect size for our family.”

Now, Audrey is returning to our shop for a Weekender conversion.

“Initially, I wanted the extra seats below for taking kids on field trips, but also having the bed/camper part up top,” says Audrey. “Four years later, my kids and I have outgrown the Pop Top and I need my own bed—so we are doing the next phase of conversion work.”

Audrey’s advice for getting started: take the time to consider all of your current needs and what you want to grow into.

“The Peace Vans team has been incredible to work with,” shares Audrey. “They’re very passionate about what they do—and it's not just buying/selling something. They understand this is something greater. It’s an experience that connects you to nature, an experience that is creating memories.”
