Finding the Right Conversion for Your Needs

Looking for an approachable, modern camper van? We’re here to help! At Peace Vans we offer different camper van conversions on the Mercedes Metris platform to fit every lifestyle. Think Volkswagen Vanagon, but more reliable—with working AC and the ability to converse with your co-pilot unlike a vintage van! The Mercedes Metris is your all-purpose camper van—with an ideal footprint designed for extended road trips, it also doubles as an excellent daily driver that you can easily park in a garage or driveway.

These modern camper vans are extremely popular. Our allotment of 2021 camper vans are rapidly selling out! We don’t expect to have the 2022 chassis converted and ready for delivery until late Spring or early Summer 2022. With no changes on the underlying Mercedes vehicle from 2021 to 2022, your best bet to guarantee a van for next summer is to get in the Peace Vans queue now.

Full Camper

This full build out offers the cozy comfort of home on wheels. It features a small kitchen set-up, two beds for sleeping, ample cabinetry for storage, and dedicated spaces for all of your camping essentials. Our Full Camper conversion is particularly fabulous for people newer to longer trips adventuring in the great outdoors, although seasoned campers will love the easy access this conversion provides.

We love that the Full Camper conversion helps eliminate the process of rounding up all of your gear to hit the road. It features a ton of great storage space where things can live even when they’re not in use. We highly recommend getting a second set of items for the van, like a dedicated toiletry kit and cookware set. This will help you get on the road and out-of-town with the blink of an eye!

Instead of packing everything from the house and spending most of the weekdays gathering your stuff—tent poles, cooking stove, camp table, and more—you can grab some food and clothes then hit the road. Driving 3-4 hours to the coast for a night or two is more manageable because you’re able to avoid spending significant time getting ready for your trip.

Who It’s Great For:

Ok, you got us. The Full Camper conversion is really fantastic for anyone. It’s particularly great for couples and solo travellers. We see a lot of retired couples, families with one kiddo, and single women over 50 who really dig this camper van conversion. It’s very approachable for 1-3 people.

There’s a sense of safety and security of having this hard shell van. It’s your spot ... your space. For many customers, it’s their first experience camping and it’s an excellent way to experience nature with creature comforts.

It’s also an ideal camper van for extended trips. We’ve had customers travel around the country for several weeks at a time. They’ll spend a night here and there in a hotel for a shower, and head back out on the road again. One of our awesome Metris customers, Nancy, spent an impressive 67 consecutive nights in her new van!

“As a single female traveling with no mechanical skills, I feel really comfortable in this.”

-Nancy, Metris Full Camper Owner

Weekender

Our Weekender conversion offers ample space for passengers coupled with the capability of simple camping. Because it doesn’t feature the kitchen or cabinetry of the Full Camper, there’s more space for passengers or to haul large items. Unobstructed sliding doors on both sides of the van offer easy in and out access.

Features:

  • Rear seats: 3 3-point belts

    Latch/ISOFIX connections: 2 (left/right sides)

Who It’s Great For:

The Weekender camper van conversion is great for families with young kids. If you don’t need all the bells and whistles of the Full Camper and prefer a little more room, this van is perfect for you. We find many younger families are drawn to the Weekender for its versatility. You can take the kids to soccer practice, run errands around town, and even stock up at Costco. Couples who are experienced with camping outside and prefer less camping-centric features inside the van also love the Weekender conversion.

“The van has been a dream come true for me and my husband.”

-Erika, Metris Weekender Van Owner

Top 5 Add Ons for Your Mercedes Metris Camper Van

  • While we love the Mercedes Metris, these vans do have low clearance. With just 3.8 in., it’s a bit sketchy to take it on anything rougher than a well graded gravel road. To overcome this, we engineered a custom suspension lift that raises the van 1.5 in. This lift allows enough space for an optional tire upgrade. With both upgrades, you’ll get 2 in. of additional clearance. This is more than enough to get to those secret campsites down some of the tougher Forest Service roads.

  • Now available for both Weekenders and Full Campers, we install a heater that uses the van’s fuel tank to provide a safe and effective heating solution. Say hello to comfortable year-round camping!

  • We worked with the guru of center consoles (yes, there is such a person) to create a bombproof locking center console that fits seamlessly between the front swivel seats. This is perfect for all your valuables while you’re out adventuring for the day.

  • The easiest to use and highest quality awning on the market—it’s a wonderful way to create shade or rain protection off the side of your van.

  • Conveniently located in the rear of the vehicle, these beautiful furniture grade units offer an organization and cooking solution for your Weekender van. Use the rear hatch as your sun or rain shelter while you cook your meals or organize your belongings!

Top Questions About Buying a Mercedes Metris Camper Van:

  • Because of our relationship with Mercedes, each year we obtain a pool of vans that we offer to our customers as the base for their conversions. Metris vans are in extremely short supply for the next few years and it can be an interminable wait to get your own. When you decide to move forward with a camper van, we will allocate one of the vans from our pool to you. When we begin to work on your van, you will then purchase the underlying chassis from our partner dealership, Mercedes-Benz of Seattle. You likely will own the van for 2-3 months while we build and deliver it to you—this might mean a few payments if you choose a financing option. We do have capacity for a limited number of “Bring Your Own Vans” each quarter, which are typically scheduled out 2-3 quarters ahead.

  • It will take about 6-9 months to complete and deliver your van.

  • For the van + conversion, expect to pay anywhere from $80-110,000 depending on the options you choose.

  • With over 500 vans on the road, we are the largest team converting Mercedes Metris vans, first to build in the US and the only company Mercedes chose to work directly with. Our deep expertise in camper vans (we are also the largest VW Camper shop in the US) gives us unique insights and expertise on camper van builds. We’re also a phenomenally fun, transparent and kind team to work with.

  • While we want you to come to the beautiful Pacific Northwest to pick up, we don’t require it. If you do choose to pick up in Seattle, our awesome team will make it a great day and ease you into the first few nights of camping. We have dedicated itineraries, campsites and tips & tricks to make it special. If we ship a van to you, plan on $1.25/mile from Seattle, with a remote orientation on your van.
